Felipe Nasr won the Silverstone GP2 Series sprint race to record his third victory of the season and close the gap to championship dominator Jolyon Palmer.

Carlin's Nasr grabbed the lead from the start as poleman Stephane Richelmi made a poor getaway and also lost places to Racing Engineering's Stefano Coletti and Trident's Johnny Cecotto Jr.

Nasr led from start to finish, having lost valuable points on Saturday when a wheelnut cross-threaded itself.

Coletti looked poised to challenge after seven laps, having closed the gap to 0.8s, but Nasr got the hammer down and pulled away to score a dominant win. Coletti reported a loss of power as he slipped over six seconds behind, but pulled the gap back to 4.3s at the finish.

Cecotto held third, despite a late challenge from Palmer, who made a great move on feature race winner Mitch Evans at Maggotts on the opening lap.

Palmer gained another place at Village after DAMS team-mate Stephane Richelmi suffered a wobble through the preceding sweepers.

Palmer pulled off another great pass, this time on Nasr's team-mate Julian Leal, at The Loop on lap 12, but fourth place was as high as he could rise.

Behind Leal, Richelmi held off an aggressive Evans for sixth. Marco Sorensen claimed the final point after Stoffel Vandoorne understeered off at Village in front of him.
