Leicester City will take on Aston Villa in the semifinals of the Carabao Cup after beating Everton 4-2 on penalties at Goodison Park. Leicester were two goals up inside half an hour, as first James Maddison and then Jonny Evans scored within three minutes of each other. But Everton, once again led by caretaker-manager Duncan Ferguson with Carlo Ancelotti expected to be appointed in the coming days, roared back in the second half. Tom Davies gave them hope with the first goal in the 70th minute, then Leighton Baines scored with a rocket in the first minute of added time to sent the tie to spot kicks. Maddison and Cenk Tosun both missed in the first round of penalties, and then a further miss from Baines proved to be key as Jamie Vardy scored the winning kick for the visitors.
