Odion Ighalo's remarkable form continued with a goal and an assist in Manchester United's 5-0 win over LASK Linz in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 matchup.

Daniel James, Juan Mata, Mason Greenwood, and Andreas Pereira also scored for United in front of an empty Linzer Stadion as concerns over the coronavirus pandemic has brought sport across Europe to a halt.

Ighalo's goal came in the 28th minute after he successfuly juggled fellow January transfer Bruno Fernandes' pass at the edge of the box for a booming strike. It was 30-year-old Ighalo's fourth goal in his last three starts following his loan switch from Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua.

Ighalo helped in United's second when he picked out James in the 58rd minute on a through ball, who then launched a low shot into the bottom corner of the net.

Mata made it three for the English side in the 82nd minute with a calm finish in front of LASK keeper Alexander Schlager.

Greenwood and Pereira added their goals in stoppage to finish off United's emphatic performance.

The second leg, scheduled at Old Trafford on March 19, remains in limbo as UEFA debates whether to suspend Champions League and Europa League play over the threat of the virus.

The match was one of four in Europe's second-tier club competition ordered to be played with no fans present due to the outbreak and two matches were postponed. Spanish side Getafe refused to travel to Italy and face Inter Milan while AS Roma said they could not travel to Spain to play Sevilla because of flight restrictions.
