Burnley's European adventure came to an end on Friday as the Premier League side crashed out of the Europa League playoff round with a 1-1 draw against Olympiakos.
The Clarets, who were playing in their first European competition in 51 years, fell short at the final qualifying hurdle before the group stage, losing 4-2 on aggregate.
After numerious chances at both ends, Olympiakos finally expanded on their first-leg win when Daniel Podence scored on the counter-attack in the 83rd minute.
Matej Vydra answered for Burnley three minutes later but it was too late to mount a comeback.
Steven Gerrard's Rangers side will be playing in the group stage after holding on with nine men for a 1-1 draw away to Ufa in Russia.
Ovie Ejaria curled in an away goal after 10 minutes, but Dmitri Sysuev responded for the hosts.
And though Alfredo Morelos was sent off in the 37th minute and Jon Flanagan followed in the 66th, Rangers were able to hold on for a 2-1 aggregate win and their first group-stage spot in Europe since 2010.
"My blood pressure has calmed down a bit now but the team don't seem to want to do it the easy way," Gerrard said. "They seem to be challenging certainly me as a manager when it comes down to heart pressure and grey hairs. But I'm so proud of the players tonight, an incredible achievement.
Rangers will be joined in Friday's draw by rivals Celtic, who saw off Suduva 3-0.
Serie A side Atalanta also faced a surprise exit from the competition after both legs of their tie with FC Copenhagen finished without a goal and the Danish side advanced 4-3 on penalties.
Bundesliga club RB Leipzig needed a stoppage-time penalty from Emil Fosberg to qualify with a 3-2 win over Zorya Luhansk, who had been heading through on away goals until the late strike.
FC Basel, who reached the Champions League knockout stage last season, were eliminated on away goals after failing to score in a 1-0 defeat at Cypriot club Apollon Limassol.
Other notable clubs to advance included Sevilla, Bordeaux, Besiktas and Zenit St. Petersburg, while there is also a spot for F91 Dudelange from tiny Luxembourg.
