Atalanta fairytale continues as Italians thrash Valencia

Alessandro Schoepf's late goal gives Schalke win over Lokomotiv Moscow

Alessandro Schoepf's stoppage time goal gave Schalke 04 a 1-0 win over Lokomotiv Moscow in Champions League Group D action on Tuesday.

The Russians were desperate for a win against already-qualified and injury-hit Schalke to have any hope of snatching third place away from Turkish side Galatasaray.

They could not find the back of the net, however, against the lacklustre Germans, who had already clinched second place and a spot in the competition's knockout stage.

Schoepf's score condemned the Russians to fourth place on three points, one behind Galatasaray, who lost to group winners Porto.
