Last season’s Champions League final took place on the 3rd June and saw Real Madrid conquer Serie A club Juventus 4-1, thanks to a brace from Cristiano Ronaldo as well as goals from Casemiro and Marco Asensio. It was just over three weeks later that this season’s Champions League began, when ten teams competed in the first round of Champions League qualification.
These ten teams dream of reaching the group stage, where they will be a regular on Paddy Power Champions League Betting. Reaching the group stage would be a huge achievement for any one of these teams and would massively improve the finances of all of the clubs. They would be able to treat their fans to games against some of the world’s best clubs.
FCI Tallinn of Estonia had their dreams cut short early after losing both legs against Maltese Premier League club Hibernians. What makes it worse for the club is that, following a merger with Levadia, the FCI Tallinn club’s main team and first reserves were disbanded, meaning that FCI Tallinn will never again play Champions League football. The club’s name was taken on by the second reserve team, who currently play in the II Liga in Estonia.
FCI Tallinn feature in the below infographic, as do the other nine teams who made up the 2017/18 Champions League first qualifying round clubs.
