Comeback win for CSKA
German champions Wolfsburg missed the chance to book a place in the knockout stages of the Champions League as CSKA Moscow came from behind to beat them and take Group B down to the final round.

Heading into the Group B clash Wolfsburg had seven points from their four previous matches and a win at the Luzhniki Stadium would have booked their spot in the next stage.

However, after Edin Dzeko's opener for the Germans CSKA hit back through Tomas Necid (58) and Milos Krasic (66) to take the win and keep their own hopes alive.

Wolfsburg made the early running in front of a paltry crowd in Moscow with Dzeko and Marcel Schafer both trying unsuccessful crosses in the opening minutes.

Dzeko produced the first shot of the match nearly 11 minutes in, drilling goalwards from 25 yards but seeing his effort blocked by Vasili Berezutsky. Schafer whipped the loose ball into the box where Dzeko met it, but the striker could only head over Igor Akinfeev's goal.

In the 15th minute Krasic's cross was cleared by Alexander Madlung and after the resulting corner by Krasic came back to him, his cross allowed Vasili Berezutsky to volley from 12 yards only for Ricardo Costa to block.

Krasic was again involved in the 18th minute but his left-footed shot from the edge of the area was blocked by the solid Madlung again.

It was at the other end where the breakthrough was made in the 19th minute, however. Obafemi Martins found space to slip in Dzeko, who timed his run perfectly to just about beat the offside flag and slot home from close range.

Georgi Shchennikov tried his luck with a cross when play resumed but Diego Benaglio caught comfortably while soon after Alan Dzagoev fired wide.

Krasic's shot was blocked by Costa in the 22nd minute before Dzeko had to clear Dzagoev's corner. Krasic continued to be the CSKA player most likely to spark something for the home side as he carried the fight to Wolfsburg while Necid also saw a shot fly wide.

In the 36th minute Berezutsky blocked a Schafer effort and the speculative attempts continued, Dzagoev for CSKA and Zvjezdan Misimovic for Wolfsburg each trying unsuccessfully.

The second half started as the first had ended with plenty of long-range efforts.

The offside flag prevented Wolfsburg making it 2-0 in the 52nd minute as Dzeko, clearly in an offside position, got a touch to Martins' side-footed shot. Pavel Mamaev forced a save from Benaglio, who had to use his feet to deflect the ball for a corner, in the 54th minute

The equaliser came in the 58th minute and it was Necid who headed home after a delightful clipped cross from the right by Eugeni Aldonin.

Krasic, so prominent for CSKA in the first half, stamped his authority on the game in style in the 66th minute with a sublime long-range strike. After so many hopeful attempts from distance, the midfielder steadied himself from a good 30 yards and unleashed a powerful right-footed shot which Benaglio was nowhere near to.

If anything it was CSKA who looked most likely to add to the scoring. But in the 85th minute Akinfeev saved his side, backpedalling to get a hand to Schafer's goal-bound cross from the left which threatened to sneak in under the bar.

Misimovic and Karim Ziani had chances but failed to take them while the hosts also had further opportunities to score, with Dzagoev coming closest as Benaglio did well to save his side further punishment.
