Superb Kevin Anderson reaches first Grand Slam final

Kevin Anderson produced a superb performance to power past Pablo Carreno Busta 4-6 7-5 6-3 6-4 and reach the final of the US Open on Friday.

Both players were bidding to reach their first Grand Slam finals and it was the Spaniard who took the early lead when he found a break in the first set.

However in the second he started to tire as Anderson’s massive serves began to wear him down.

With the South African regularly reaching 130mph on his delivery, he broke his opponent and took the second set.

It proved to be the crucial moment in the match as the 31-year-old kicked up a gear to take the next set.

In the final set Carreno Busta battled hard, producing some incredible shots as the game went deep, but he was unable to prevent Anderson from reaching the final.

There he will face either Rafa Nadal or Juan Martin del Potro who face off in the other semi-final later on Friday.

Anderson has never beaten either opponent, losing four times to Nadal and six times to Del Potro with defeats to each already this season.
