Tottenham sign Lucas Moura from Paris Saint-Germain

31/01/2018

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of winger Lucas Moura from Paris Saint-Germain for a fee of €28 million.

The Brazil international has signed a deal until 2023 at Spurs after being told he could find a new club, while sources close to PSG revealed that a late delay came from final negotiations over the €28m fee plus a potential additional €4m in bonuses.

He said in a video on his new club's Twitter account: "It's a chapter in my life, a new challenge for me. I am so happy.''

Lucas joined PSG for £33.5m from Sao Paulo in 2013 but has made just six substitute appearances this season following the summer signings of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

The 25-year-old has scored 46 goals and added 50 assists in 229 appearances for PSG, winning 13 domestic trophies in France, including four league titles.

The winger has played 35 times for his country and won a silver medal at the London Olympics in 2012.

Lucas is not cup-tied for the Champions League, having not featured in the competition for PSG this season, but Spurs will have to remove a foreign player from the squad because they already have 17 registered.

Lucas' international teammate Neymar said that it is "very unfair" his close friend had been forced out of the Parc des Princes, telling media following PSG's Coupe de la Ligue semifinal win at Rennes on Tuesday: "I'm sad because he's a good friend, a quality player who has been used very little.

"I think it's very unfair. He's my brother in football. I wish him all the best. Regardless of the destination, I hope he'll score a lot of goals and that he'll return to the Brazil team.

"He's not just a friend, he's someone who has a lot of quality. He could have been used a lot more here, I'm sure of that, but I'm not the team's owner. For me, he should never have left Paris."
