Grigor Dimitrov a threat warns Federer

Seven-time champion Roger Federer is expecting a massive test of his mettle when he takes on Grigor Dimitrov in the fourth round of Wimbledon.

Federer has reached the second week at SW19 with few alarms, but is readying himself for a much tougher challenge from Monday onwards.

That starts with a meeting with 2014 semi-finalist Dimitrov, with the winner of that match moving on to face either 2016 runner-up Milos Raonic or rising German star Alexander Zverev

And Federer, 2/1 to be crowned Wimbledon champion once again, is well aware of the ability of Dimitrov, although he has the knowledge that he has won all five previous meetings with the Bulgarian.

He told reporters: "Every time I play against him he's stronger than the time before.

"He's in the perfect age right now where he starts to understand his game best. He's physically strong, he's mentally taken the next step again. That's what you expect from a player of his calibre.

"I'm ready for a tough one, but sure, again, another exciting match because he's a great shotmaker."

Meanwhile, Dimitrov is feeling confident after not dropping a set on his way through to the fourth round, adding: "I think I'm just really focused on myself right now, on my game. That's about it.

"Whatever's on the other side of the net I can't control it. I can control only what's on my side, in my team, what I do to prepare myself the best way that I can before the match.

"So, yeah, I'm pretty positive. I like my chances."

Dimitrov is available at 9/2 to defeat Federer and is 12/1 to do so in four sets, with the Bulgarian 6/1 to be eliminated from Wimbledon at the quarter-final stage.
