England land Belgium, Tunisia and Panama in 2018 World Cup draw

02/12/2017

England have been drawn to face Belgium, Tunisia and Panama in the group stage of the 2018 World Cup.

England have a tough test against a Belgium side which provides some of the Premier League’s best players, including Kevin de Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku, Eden Hazard and Toby Alderweireld.

The third pot of seeds saw England drawn against Tunisia, who they will play in their opening game in Volgograd on June 18. It will be almost exactly 20 years to the day when England played Tunisia in their opening fixture of the 1998 World Cup, with England winning 2-0 on June 15.

Gareth Southgate's side also have Panama, who came through the Concacaf round, on June 24 in Nizhy Novgorod. They will face Belgium on June 28 in Kaliningrad in a thrilling conclusion to the group stage.

If England make it into the last-16 they will play the team which finishes first or second in Group H: Poland, Colombia, Senegal or Japan.

The tournament's opening game sees hosts Russia take on Saudi Arabia.
